School Breakfast and the Local
Wellness Policy: Resources for Schools!
Every school participating in the National School
Lunch Program must develop a Local Wellness Policy, to be in place
no later than the first day of the 2006-2007 school year. The Wellness
Policy must address a variety of issues including nutrition education
and physical activity, nutrition standards for all foods sold on
campus, and school-based activities which promote student wellness.
The Nutrition Consortium has developed resources to help schools
utilize their School Breakfast Program as a school-based activity
to promote student wellness.
