Hunger Data Book 2002
Welcome to our online version of Hunger in
New York State A Data Book: County Profiles of Poverty, Hunger
and Nutrition Program Utilization Statistics.
Section 1 of this data book contains state and county profiles
that provide you with data on various indicators of need - such
as food insecurity data and unemployment rates, as well as nutrition
program participation statistics.
Section 2 contains similar-county comparison graphs.
Section 3 contains statewide data spreadsheets.
Descriptions of the federal nutrition programs are also provided
in the introduction, along with statistical sources and definitions
of the indicators of need data. Many individuals and agencies made
this data book possible, so please take a moment to look at the
acknowledgements, too.

Section 1: Profiles
Following the New York State and the New York City profiles, county
profiles are listed in alphabetical order. To view a particular
profile, click on the profile title, below. You may also view the
profiles in consecutive order, or move between the profiles by using
the links at the bottom of the individual profile page. Each profile
consists of two pages.
Section 2: Similar-County Comparison Graphs
New York State counties are divided into four groups of similar
counties. To view graphs for a particular group of counties, click
county title or click on "compare my county to similar New
York State counties" on the bottom of the county profile page.
These materials are provided in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format and
open in a separate browser window. They will take some time to load
so please be patient.
